ECONOMIC NEWS

Vietnam’s industrial production continued its upward trend in April 2025, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) estimated to rise by 1.4% compared to March and by 8.9% year-on-year. Cumulatively, over the first four months of 2025, the IIP grew by 8.4% compared to the same period last year—an improvement over the 6.3% growth recorded during the same period in 2024.

The manufacturing and processing sector led the expansion, increasing by 10.1% and contributing 8.5 percentage points to the overall growth. Electricity production and distribution rose by 5.1%, adding 0.5 percentage points. The water supply and waste treatment sector recorded a 10.2% increase, contributing 0.1 percentage points. In contrast, the mining sector declined by 4.5%, pulling down the overall IIP by 0.7 percentage points.

On the diplomatic front, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien spoke with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson L. Greer to initiate bilateral trade negotiations. The Vietnamese government continues working with relevant agencies to develop balanced, sustainable trade relations with the U.S., aiming to address concerns on both sides and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.

During this month, our team observed the public holidays for Vietnamese Reunification Day and Labor Day from April 30 to May 4, 2025. This year marked the 50 anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification since April 30, 1975. The occasion was commemorated with large-scale celebrations, including a parade and the participation of representatives from China, Laos, and Cambodia. Our operations resumed on May 5, 2025, with the team returning to work and continuing to deliver services to our customers without interruption.
