ECONOMIC NEWS
According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), by the end of January 2023, the Vietnamese economy continued to show positive signs with the macroeconomic situation remaining stable. Production and trade continued recovering thanks to high consumer demand during the Lunar New Year holiday (late January).
However, due to the week-long holiday and the impact of the global economic uncertainty, industrial production and import-export activities faced numerous difficulties. The January index of industrial production (IIP) equaled 92 percent of that in January 2022, while total foreign trade value was lower compared with December and January 2022.

NEW LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Decree No. 02/2023/ND-CP Detailing the Implementation a Number of Articles of the Law on Water Resources
This decree was issued on February 1, 2023 and will take affect from March 20, 2023. The Decree No. 201/2013/ND-CP will be expired on the same day.
I. Cases in which water exploitation and use are exempt from the registration or licensing:
1. Case of underground water exploitation and usage specified in point a, c, d and dd, clause 1, article 44 of the Law on Water Resources but not subject to the regulations prescribed in clause 2, article 44 of the Law on Water Resources
2. Cases of Exploitation, use of water with small scale for manufacturing, business, service specified in point b, clause 1, article 44 of the Law on Water Resources, including:
a) The underground water exploitation with the capacity of 10 m3/day and below which serves the manufacturing, goods sale, and/or service provision and are not subject to the regulations prescribed in Clause 2 Article 44 of the Law on Water Resources;
b) The surface water exploitation with the capacity of 100 m3/day and below which serves non-agricultural manufacturing, goods sale, and/or service provision.
II. Cases in which water exploitation and use are compulsory to obtain the registration or licensing:
Cases in which water exploitation and use are compulsory to obtain the licensing, including:
a) Case of underground water exploitation and using that is subjected to the regulations prescribed in Article 16 and clause 1, article 17 of this Decree;
b) Case that is subjected to point a that exploit and use surface water of reservoirs, dams, canals which serves non-agricultural manufacturing, goods sale, and/or service provision, etc.

In February 2023, OneStepVietnam had provided the regular audits/assessments, SLCP verifications for factories. In addition, our trainer had conducted a training on applicable laws and regulations on how to set up and maintain the homeworkers supply chain for the unique and special homemade needlepoint products for our customer.
