Settling the social insurance regime for employees forced to apply medical isolation measures to prevent Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Vietnam Social Insurance has just sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Ministry of Health on settling the social insurance regime for employees forced to apply medical isolation measures to prevent Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Accordingly, Vietnam Social Insurance proposes the MOLISA to those who are under medical isolation to prevent epidemics according to the decision of the competent authority to enjoy the sickness regime as prescribed in the Medical cup. Document of entitlement to sickness benefits for people who are in medical isolation includes: cases of inpatient treatment (hospital discharge papers); in case of outpatient treatment (a certificate of leave to enjoy social insurance or a certificate of hospital discharge indicated by the physician, the treating doctor gives extra leave after the time of inpatient treatment). Due to Covid-19 without an infectious disease are not issued these documents.

In case of isolation at the facility (outside the private house), the facility that is responsible for medical isolation is responsible for issuing the certificate of medical isolation for the person subject to medical isolation for enjoying the regimes prescribed in the Labor Code, the Law on Social Insurance and the guiding documents (if any).

In case of home isolation, Vietnam Social Insurance proposes the Ministry of Health to agree to let the health station of the commune, ward or town where the employee resides based on the list of cases where medical isolation is required at houses approved by the head of the commune-level anti-epidemic steering committee are responsible for granting employees’ leave-by-social insurance certificates for employees to serve as a basis for settling the sickness regime according to regulations.
