Conditions for joining the Vietnamese trade union

This is a prominent content in the Charter of Vietnam Trade Union (Course XII) issued together with Decision 174/QD-TLD of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Accordingly, Vietnamese people, regardless of their profession, gender or belief, may join the Vietnamese Trade Union when they meet the following conditions:
– Being a salaried employee in employers employing lawful activities in the territory of Vietnam or Vietnamese being legally self-employed;
– Approving the Vietnam Trade Union Regulation;
– Voluntarily joining in a grassroots trade union organization, paying union dues as prescribed.
In addition, the Charter also stipulates that Vietnamese people are allowed to work abroad under contracts, foreigners legally working in Vietnam to join the collective forms of Vietnam Trade Union.
The Vietnam Trade Union Regulation (Course XII) will take effect from February 3, 2020.
