ECONOMIC NEWS

Vietnam’s GDP expanded by 7.83% in the first quarter of the year, according to the National Statistics Office. While lower than the growth rates recorded in the final three quarters of 2025, the figure still exceeds the level seen in the same period last year.
Industrial production remained a key growth driver, rising 9.01% year-on-year and contributing 38.34% to the economy’s total added value. Foreign direct investment (FDI) also showed strong momentum, with total inflows reaching US$15.2 billion, up 42.9%, while disbursed capital increased 9.1% to USD 5.41 billion.
Trade activity continued to expand rapidly. Export turnover climbed 19.1% to USD 122.93 billion, while imports surged 27% to USD 126.57 billion, resulting in a trade deficit. The United States remained Vietnam’s largest export market at USD 39 billion, while China continued as the country’s biggest supplier, with imports exceeding USD 50 billion.
